This program covers essential elements of anatomy and kinesiology for a better understanding of efficient movement. The curriculum includes general skeletal anatomy, with more detail on muscle anatomy and movement. This course is suitable for all who want to learn more about their body's movement and is highly recommended for fitness and wellness professionals. The reference material is the 4th edition of "Trail Guide to the Body". It is available through Amazon or booksofdiscovery.com, along with optional flash cards and student workbook.
Introduction to Pilates & Beginning/Intermediate Exercises. Balanced Body Mat 1 includes an introduction to the history and principles of Pilates, a review of core anatomy, beginning and most intermediate level exercises with modifications, lectures on class order and programming in a fitness setting and guidelines for safely teaching seniors and pre-, and post-natal classes.
Intermediate/Advanced Exercises. Mat 2 includes the remaining intermediate and advanced level exercises as well as essential movement principles and training tips for advancing clients to the higher levels. Pilates for sports specific activities are also covered.
Enhanced Pilates Mat completes the mat training by adding rings, rollers, bands and balls to the traditional Mat exercises. In addition, Enhanced Mat includes functional exercises for the upper and lower body expanding the Mat work beyond the core to develop whole body strength and flexibility. The ThinkFit programming system is introduced to make class design easy, effective and fun. Adding props to a mat class makes them more dynamic, creative and accessible and clients love toys!
Reformer 1 includes an introduction to the Pilates Reformer including set up and safety, plus beginning exercises, program sequencing and teaching tips for group classes. By the end of the course, you will be able to teach a beginning Reformer class or personal training session.
Reformer 2 includes intermediate exercises and modifications designed for group and individual instruction. Teaching successful classes and sessions to clients at different levels of ability is emphasized. Included are a variety of programs designed to keep your clients inspired.
Advanced Exercises & Sports Specific Programs--Reformer III includes advanced exercises plus modifications for sports specific activities, tips for training the advanced client and programs designed for specific sports.
Reformer 2 or Reformer certification: Includes exercises and variations for both the original Wunda chair and the split pedal Combo Chair. The chair is great for doing strengthening work with athletic clients and as an addition to group programming in combination with the Mat. This course includes exercises and programming for both personal training sessions and classes.
Prerequisite: Reformer II or Reformer certificationThe BBU Trapeze Table/Cadillac certification provides a thorough introduction to Trapeze Table exercises as well as applications for beginning, post-rehabilitation and advanced clients. This training is appropriate for students working with the Allegro Tower of Power, Half Trapeze and Wall Unit as well as those working with full Trapeze Tables. Sequencing programs using multiple pieces of equipment are covered as well as equipment set up, safety and maintenance.
BBU Pilates Arc instructor training includes an introduction to the history and principles of Pilates, the features, function and safety precautions for the Pilates Arc, the complete repertoire of exercises on the Pilates Arc with modifications and lectures on class order and programming in a studio or fitness setting.
