Megan



Megan began integrating Pilates into her fitness routine during her third pregnancy. The physical and emotional benefits of her practice were transformative and she has been a believer in the power of Pilates ever since. Megan is Comprehensively Certified by Balanced Body and teaches Mat, Reformer, Tower and Chair. Megan teaches at several studios and has piloted an Introduction to Pilates program as part of an employee Wellness Program at a local private school. Megan is also a mother of three, runner, photographer and active community volunteer. She credits Pilates for keeping her physical and mental well-being in balance and strives to share the benefits of Pilates with as many people as possible.

[LS] Pilates Mat Challenge
[LS] Held at the Laurel Studio in the Cherry Tree Shopping Center.  Pilates is a system of movement that focuses on engaging the mind with the body to create exercises that involve the whole body. Every exercise is performed with attention to breath, proper form and efficient movement patterns. Pilates strengthens the core, improves balance, increases coordination and reduces stress. The mat repertoire will challenge you usign body weight and small props. With small class sizes, this mixed level class will offer variations and modifications to suit all levels.
[LS] 1 & 2 Reformer
[LS] Held at the Laurel Studio in the Cherry Tree Shopping Center. The Reformer utilizes spring resistance to create challenge at times and to provide assistance at other times. This class focuses on building strength and control while focusing on the Pilates principles. For those who have attended a minimum of 1-3 Intro Equipment classes.
[LS] 1 & 2 Mixed Equipment
[LS] Held at the Laurel Studio in the Cherry Tree Shopping Center.  This class incorporates all things Pilates, often including the reformer, tower, arc barrel, magic circle, and some mat work. Previous Pilates equipment experience suggested.
[COL] Reformer Jumpboard
[COL] This class is held at the Columbia Studio.  Use the Jumpboard to elevate your heart rate and burn calories while performing Pilates strength and conditioning exercises and abdominal work. This class has a slightly faster tempo than other reformer classes and is an intermediate level class.
[COL] Barre Sculpt
[COL] Held at the Columbia Studio.  Integrate Pilates principles, yoga, dance conditioning, and muscle sculpting. Using body weight and small weights to high tempo music to strengthen, stretch, and tone all major muscle groups with an aerobic effect. Sculpt the body of a dancer. No dance experience required as this is not a dance class. Suitable for all levels.

[LS] Barre Sculpt
[LAU] Held at the Laurel Studio in the Cherry Tree Shopping Center.  Integrate Pilates principles, yoga, dance conditioning, and muscle sculpting. Release, Restore and Replenish Workshop Series

This workshop is held at the Laurel studio.

Release, restore and replenish your mind and body. Using muscle release techniques, visualization and imagery, stretching and Pilates exercises, we will explore creating expansive movements and deepening the connection between mind and body. Each workshop will incorporate relaxation, release with a variety of props, balance, stretching and strengthening.

Each of these workshops is $40 (10% off automatically for all Unlimited Class and Gym Members)

Upper Body, concentrating on shoulders, neck and upper back:  Friday, November 30 5:30-7:00 pm Laurel--  Neck, shoulder and back pain often appear suddenly and linger, negatively impacting our daily movements. Learning to release the muscles supporting the fragile bones of the cervical spine and the shoulder blades can create ease of movement and open the door to strengthening the muscles around these sensitive areas. The session will include a guided relaxation, use of a variety of props and strength and stability exercises.

Exploration of the movements of the spine: Friday, December 14 5:30-7:00 pm Laurel-- “The art of Pilates proves that the only real guide to your true age lies not in years or how you THINK you feel but as you ACTUALLY are as infallibly indicated by the degree of natural and normal flexibility enjoyed by your spine throughout life.” -Joseph Pilates Understanding and exploring the alignment, dynamic movements and care of the spine will bring immeasurable benefits to your everyday life. The session will include a guided relaxation, use of a variety of props, stretching and strengthening exercises.
